After not working on my first bridge quilt for about 2 months I've started cutting out quilt #2! I'm loving all the bright colors. What a contrast to my almost all gray first quilt. I'm committed to finishing #1 before I begin sewing #2 though......does that count? I think I just needed to see some color! And this is fitting the bill. Happiness =)
We have been challenged to design and create
a modern quilt inspired by one of the bridges
over the Willamette River.
“Portland’s Bridges – A Modern Interpretation”
will be showcased at the NW Quilting Expo
in September of 2014.
Speaking of The Pine Needle, I fell in love with this quilt while at the Modern Group's meeting this week. The pattern is by Jenny Pedigo at
Sew Kind of Wonderful. I've always loved her work and I think I'm going to have to add this one to my Quilts to Finish list. #32! (I've already started about 22 of them so it will be a while before I get to it)
Oops I almost forgot, I'm about half way threw making my cross blocks. They aren't in any special order so the blue is a little clumped up in the picture. I have about 25 more blocks not up yet. And about 70 more to make. Yikes! For a non piecer that's a lot of blocks, lol. I'm so happy I went with the red/orange and aqua theme. I'm really liking it. I worked on it at our first Muddy Boots Day. While I was sewing a woman asked if the crosses represented the Red Cross. Made me giggle. But come to think of it, that would be very appropriate for my husband. Apparently he has a much desired blood type and gets calls to come in as often as allowed. Hmmm does that mean it has a name....Chad's Blood Quilt? A little creepy, yet quite fitting for my Halloween loving husband =)
