Shoulda woulda coulda

Don't you just hate it when you buy a small amount of fabric
because you like it but don't know what you'll do with it?

Why oh why didn't I get more???  I'm loving both of these.  Fun eh?

Pattern design

I have always had great respect for those that can follow a pattern.  My brain fights it all the way.  Not because the patterns are worded poorly, but because my attention span wont stay with it long enough to finish reading a simple direction. My mind instantly starts wondering on to the next project or how I would do it without a pattern.  So frustrating as there are so many patterns out there that I would love to quilt.  (yes, I only piece so I can quilt.  Come on I can't be the only quilter out there that thinks this way.....I hope, lol)

One of these days I need to give in and buy a pattern design program.  (The thought of reading the directions on how to use it are daunting for an attention challenged person such as myself, lol)  But for now I will keep using my graph paper making simple quilt patterns that I can sew FAST!

That said, I am still excited to start my paper pieced kit I bought about 10 years ago!!!   That's following a pattern....right? =)

Evolution of Broken

Yes those are diet Coke drips on the paper. Mmmmmm yum!

As you can see, it turned out nothing like the drawings once I saw Shattered by Jacquie Gering.

Blast from the past

A little blast from the past while I try to get a bit of inspiration for a quilt =)
I'm sensing more circles in my near future.

Broken

My first attempt at outdoor photography.

The back.

I've had "parts" of this quilt in my head for years.  I was inspired by my customer Lynn's quilts.  Here's one of the quilts that got me day dreaming.

I pictured a B and W quilt with larger blocks in the center and smaller blocks in reverse randomly placed on the outer corners.

And then I saw Jacquie Gering's quilt Shattered and fell in love with it!  That led to finding her blog and then being lucky enough to hear her speak at The Portland Modern Quilt Guild.  I knew I had to finish this quilt!!

I loved her 2 sided border.

I quickly moved all of the randomly placed corner blocks onto 2 of my borders and called it Broken.   Because next to Shattered mine looks a little broken =)  But I still love it.  Thanks for all the inspiration Jacquie and Lynn!

Why oh why?

Love the quilting, hate the batting!  Why is it I get impatient with my
own quilts and make mistakes I would never make on a customers quilt??

I didn't want to wait and order the right batting when I realized I was out of my preferred batting for this type of quilting.  It's a rare day I don't have a customer quilt on my machine so I grabbed the chance to throw mine on.  My bad.

Now I have floppy circles.  Lots and lots of floppy circles.

Oh well I still love it,  it will be very soft for cuddling up with my favorite guy.
I'll try to get some better pics outside tomorrow.

And up next to be quilted when I can squeeze it in, a fun quilt for my grandson.
Amy said bold on black was totally fine for a newborn =)

Hmmmmmm what to quilt?  I'm thinking something fun and whimsical.

Yes those are skulls and cross bones on the red fabric, very appropriate coming from this Halloween loving granny.

Thanks for finding it for me AnnMarie!

Patty's Quilt

 Finished!! =)

Crazy busy day to day so this will be a post of little words.

But I had to post this quilt =)  Isn't it fabulous!!!  I loved quilting it.

I never tire of these colors, just gorgeous!

I love ruler work, I find it very relaxing.  And this was the perfect quilt for it.

The piecing was spot on to boot!  Always makes a quilter smile to see that =)
