Westside Modern Club

Had a great time with my friend Carol at the Westside Modern Club at The Pine Needle last night.  I was so surprised to run into Betsy who's quilt I just delivered the day before.  It was already bound and ready for show and tell!   Wonder woman!!

AnnMarie you'll be proud of me I'm participating in something!!  We had 4 patterns and 4 different fat quarter designs to pick from.  As I understand it someone will win all of the blocks.  I must admit to not paying close attention when they were explaining it (oh big surprise there to those who know me well, lol!!).

The top fabric is the challenge fabric I selected. Notice the simple block pattern I chose, yes the simplest and therefore the fastest they had!  Actually I selected it to highlight the lovely circle in the print.  How completely and totally obvious and uncreative. Tee hee!

Last week I chickened out of the Portland Modern Quilt Guild (PMQG) container swap fearing I wouldn't be able to finish the project in time.  However I couldn't get the cute little fabric boxes out of my mind.  So I hope to be making one for myself  (how selfish, lol) as soon as my quilting schedule allows. Here's the sample they showed us.

Cuteness eh??

Blast from the past

Another blast from the past!  (I've been cleaning up a few files and finding a few old favorites)  One of Toni's shop samples.  I still love this quilt.  Oh and hey, Mirror Ball fabric is back!!  Lightly quilted with simple random concentric circles and quarter inching. (click photo's to enlarge)

My old filing system leaves much to be desired, so I do not have the names for the next 3 quilts.  They are all on the tip of my tongue and I remember quilting them like it was yesterday.  Unfortunately it would require going threw about 10, 000 photo's to match the names at this point.  If you recognize one please email me so I can give credit where credit is due =)

Morgan's fabric is here!

I thought of my grand daughter Morgan the second I saw this line.  Menangerie by Robert Kaufman. I ordered it on Friday from Craftsy and it arrived Monday!  She's been learning her animals, aren't these colors fantastic!

Just in time for her second birthday in November  (Yes I need that much time, lol.  They don't call me the queen of procrastination for nothing)  I'm thinking there's enough to make one for my grandson Owen (due next month) for Christmas.

Betsy's quilt is ready to go home

I decided to call it finished.

Betsy wanted me to bring out the wonky stars,  adding a fill to the flowers would have balanced out the quilt making the stars blend in more.

I'm liking wonky, I need a little wonky in my life =)

Finished

Just finished today is Betsy's big wonky posies and stars.  (Starflower by Angela Nash, Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe)

I may add a bit more fill work on the posies on Monday.  So I'll leave it on the machine for now and sleep on it.

Wonky quilting for a wonky quilt!  Love this quilt!!  I just may have to make one of these for a grand child =)
Same colors and all.

Ready for delivery

First up, Meg's stacked boxes (I believe that's the name)

Meg requested non custom on this one, so I did one of my favorite freehand edge to edges on it.

Overlapping posies.  I love the texture it adds to quilts.

I'm thinking it will be perfect on my grand daughter Rylie's quilt next month =)

Another for Meg, just in time for the Fourth!

Last up is Brenda's Lovely floral quilt.
She requested a mix of posies and geometric line work.

I used the posies on the first quilt in the borders. Her piecing is always spot on!

Shoulda woulda coulda

Don't you just hate it when you buy a small amount of fabric
because you like it but don't know what you'll do with it?

Why oh why didn't I get more???  I'm loving both of these.  Fun eh?
